Kwankwaso Tasks Tinubu On Equitable Distribution Of Nation’s Resources

    By Abdullahi Yusuf

The New Nigeria People’s Party(NNPP) presidential candidate in the 2023 general elections, Senator Rabi’u Kwankwaso, has urged President Bola Tinubu to ensure equitable distribution of the nation’s scarce resources for the development of all parts of the country.

Kwankwaso made the call in his remarks at the Kano State Stakeholders’ Dialogue on the 2025 Constitutional Amendment held in Kano on Thursday.

The dialogue was organized to enable the people of the state to deliberate on the ongoing constitution review in country towards giving their imputs to the process.

As part of his submission, Kwankwaso accused the Tinubu administration of prioritising the development of the South over that of the northern part of the country.

“From the information available to us, it is like most of the national budget is now tilting in one direction in this country.

“The national resources have been concentrated on the development of the southern part of the country, while the North is being neglected,” the former Governor of Kano State alleged.

He further remarked that, “Let me advise those who are struggling by all means to take everything to remember that some of the issues that we have in this part of the country today have to do with the lack of enough resources and mismanagement of the little that comes in.

“That is why we have insecurity, we have poverty and so on. It is happening here mainly, but like a desert, it would go everywhere,” he said.

According to the NNPP bigwig, most of the roads in the North are in deplorable condition, while the APC government continues to allocate huge sums of funds for infrastructure development in the South.

“The condition of the Abuja-Kaduna-Kano road is terrible. The construction of the road was started many years ago, right from the inception of the APC administration. Now we are told that there is a road from the south to the East,” he said.

In his opening address, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf said the gathering was convened to generate the views of the people of the state for onward submission to the ongoing constitution amendment process.

Yusuf charged the stakeholders to arrive at a common position that would reflect the yearnings and aspirations of the people of the state so as to become part of the amendment of the Nigerian constitution.

Those who participated in the one-day dialogue included the four Emirs in the state, Civil Society Organizations(CSOs), the organized Labour, women associations and student groups.

The event which was held at the Coronation Hall, Government House,Kano, was chaired by renowned Constitutional Lawyer, Prof. Auwalu Yadudu.
