Katsina State Govt To Immunize 3 Million Children Against Polio

Katsina State Government has deployed over 10,000 trained personnel for the immunisation of 3 million children against the Polio disease.
The immunisation exercise will be carried out in 361 wards and 19,760 settlements, and will be conducted in collaboration with the United Nations Childrens Fund(UNICEF).
The Executive Chairman of the State Primary health Care Development Agency,Dr Shamsudeen Yahaya, revealed this during a one-day Mass Mobilisation Dialogue with the Media.
Yahaya said the exercise would be conducted between March 28 and March 31,2026.
He said children from birth to nine months would be vaccinated during the exercise.
He called on parents,caregivers and other stakeholders to support the campaign against polio by ensuring that all eligible children are immunized against the disease.
Ealier, Representative of UNICEF, Umar Ahmed,said 3,671 teams each comprising a team leader, Vaccinator and Community leader would embark on a house-to-house campaign to administer Oral Polio Vaccine on children.
Ahmed said there would be fixed Post, Special team at boarder communities for the success of the exercise.
He urged the media to promote awareness on the importance of the exercise to ensure its acceptance among parents.
