The Katsina State Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education has introduced compulsory extra lessons for all senior secondary school students across the state as part of efforts to improve academic performance in forthcoming external examinations.
In a statement issued to newsmen, the ministry said the measure was designed to adequately prepare students and enhance their chances of success in the upcoming examinations.
The statement, signed by the ministry’s Public Relations Officer, Sani Danjuma, disclosed that the extra lessons will run from Monday, March 2 to Thursday, March 19, this year.
According to the ministry, past examination question papers in core subjects will be thoroughly reviewed and treated during the revision period to strengthen students’ understanding and boost overall performance.
The ministry further directed all boarding school students to attend the extra lessons at designated day secondary schools within their neighborhoods throughout the exercise.
Parents and guardians have also been advised to ensure that their wards participate fully in the programme.
The statement expressed appreciation to stakeholders for their continued support and cooperation in advancing the education sector in the state.
