A frontline politician of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Katsina State, Hon. Hamza Sule Faskari, has distributed food items and cash assistance worth over N120 million to vulnerable persons across the 11 local government areas of Funtua Zone.
The Ramadan intervention, valued at N122 million, targeted orphans, widows, internally displaced persons (IDPs), youth groups, community development associations, party members and other less privileged individuals.
Speaking during the distribution ceremony held in Faskari town, Hon. Hamza said the gesture was aimed at cushioning the economic hardship faced by residents, particularly during the holy month of Ramadan.
The food items, worth N60 million, comprised 400 bags of rice, 500 bags of millet and 300 bags of maize. In addition, the philanthropist disbursed N62 million in cash to various beneficiaries to support them during the fasting period.
Hamza Sule, who holds the traditional titles of Wamban Faskari and Sadaukin Kasar Hausa, pledged to sustain the annual Ramadan assistance as part of his commitment to supporting his constituency.
The event, which attracted thousands of beneficiaries, well-wishers, politicians and youth groups, also featured calls for prayers and unity. Hon. Hamza, who serves as the Katsina State Commissioner for Environment, urged residents to intensify acts of worship and pray for peace, stability and sustainable development in the state. He also called for prayers for leaders at all levels to succeed in delivering good governance.
In his remarks, the APC Deputy Chairman in Katsina State, Hon. Bala Abu Musawa, described Hamza as one of the party’s most committed chieftains, noting that he consistently supports party members, vulnerable groups, women and orphans, especially during Ramadan.
“He has made it a tradition to provide assistance every Ramadan to party members and the less privileged,” Musawa said.
Beneficiaries commended Hon. Hamza Sule for the initiative and urged other politicians and business leaders to emulate his gesture in supporting the needy.
Meanwhile, the Chairman of Faskari Local Government Area, Alhaji Surajo Aliyu Daudawa, announced that the council would pay electricity bills for residents for one year to ease their financial burden and reduce day-to-day expenses.
