In its continued effort to strengthen and consolidate Kano State’s position as one of the leading states that attach the highest priority to education, the state government has inaugurated a Committee on Review of Qualifying Examinations in the State.

The committee was inaugurated on behalf of   Governor of Abba Kabir Yusuf, by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Alhaji Umar Faruk Ibrahim, who was represented by the Permanent Secretary, Research, Evaluation and Political Affairs (REPA) Directorate, SSG’s Office.

The SSG explained that the establishment of the committee demonstrates the present administration’s firm commitment to further improving the education sector and sustaining the impressive gains already recorded under the leadership of Governor Yusuf.

He emphasized that the review of the qualifying examinations system has become necessary to ensure efficiency, fairness, and improved performance among students across the state’s secondary schools.

The committee is mandated to examine the existing processes and structures guiding the planning and conduct of qualifying examinations, evaluate the adequacy of materials, logistics, and personnel involved, and identify areas that require improvement in order to strengthen the overall system and achieve better learning outcomes. It is also expected to submit its report within four weeks.

The Committee  is chaired by the Special Adviser on Corporate Social Responsibility, with membership drawn from the Ministry of Education, Kano Educational Resource Department (KERD), Kano State Science and Technical Schools Board (STSB), and the Senior Secondary Schools Management Board (SSSMB).

The Secretary of the committee is Muhammad Yusuf, Under Secretary, Cabinet Office, while the Co-Secretary is Jamilu Usman, Assistant Secretary II, Cabinet Office.

The inauguration of this committee represents another decisive step by the administration of, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, towards revitalizing education and maintaining the state’s enviable record of excellence in both internal and external examinations.
