Controversial Bail:Kano Transportation Commissioner Namadi Resigns

    By Abdullahi Yusuf

Kano State Commissioner for Transportation, Ibrahim Ali Namadi, has resigned his appointment following an investigation into his involvement in a controversial bail of a suspected drug baron, Sulaiman Aminu Danwawu.

This was disclosed by Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, the spokesperson to Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf.

Dawakin Tofa said the commissioner turned in his resignation hours after Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf received the report of the Committee set up to investigate the matter.

Namadi said he resigned his position in the overriding public interest, acknowledging the sensitive nature of the issue.

He noted that as a member of an administration committed to fighting drug abuse, he could not ignore public perception.

“While I maintain my innocence, I cannot ignore the weight of public perception and the need to protect the values we have collectively built,” he said.

The former commissioner thanked Governor Yusuf for the opportunity accorded him to serve, reaffirming his loyalty to the administration and its core values of accountability and integrity.

Governor Yusuf has accepted the resignation and commended the former commissioner’s service, wishing him success in his future endeavours.

The governor reiterated his administration’s firm stance on justice, discipline and the fight against illicit drugs and other social vices.

He also advised all political appointees to act with caution and seek approval from higher authorities when dealing with sensitive matters of public interest, the statement added.
