From Mu’awiya Bala Idris, Katsina
The Statistician-General of the Katsina State Bureau of Statistics, Professor Saifullahi Sani Ibrahim, has disbursed over N20 million to Islamic preachers, students and women groups in Matazu Local Government Area of Katsina State.
Speaking during the distribution ceremony held at the Matazu Local Government Secretariat, Professor Saifullahi said the gesture was part of his personal contribution toward supporting people in his constituency, particularly the vulnerable.
He explained that the financial assistance was aimed at empowering beneficiaries and improving their livelihoods. According to him, the support will also be extended to members of the Gwagware Foundation Media Team, members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Matazu, as well as other vulnerable groups in the area.
Professor Saifullahi called on the beneficiaries to make proper use of the funds provided, assuring that he would continue to support initiatives that promote development and improve the welfare of residents in the locality.
He also commended the Katsina State Governor, Dikko Umaru Radda, for encouraging individuals and organisations to assist the less privileged in society.
Earlier, the Chairman of the APC in Matazu Local Government Area, Mansur Aliyu, said the financial support would help beneficiaries establish small businesses and become self-reliant.
He urged wealthy individuals and elected representatives from the area to emulate the gesture by providing financial support to poor families and contributing to the rapid development of the community.
One of the beneficiaries, Samaila Sani, expressed appreciation to Professor Saifullahi for the assistance and assured that the funds would be used judiciously.
Similarly, Hadiza Maikudi, speaking on behalf of women’s organisations that benefited from the support, said the assistance would go a long way in alleviating their economic challenges.
