The Jigawa State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has concluded arrangements to host the Union’s National Executive Council (NEC) meeting, scheduled to hold from Monday, August 10 to Wednesday, August 12, 2026.
A statement jointly signed by the Chairman of the Council, Comrade Isma’il Ibrahim Dutse, and the Acting Secretary, Comrade Aminu Umar Shuwajo, said delegates from the 36 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, are expected to attend the meeting, with arrivals commencing on Monday, August 10.
According to the statement, the National President of the NUJ, Comrade Alhassan Yahya Abdullahi, will serve as the Special Guest of Honour at the final of the 3rd Inter-Security and Media Football Competition, slated for August 10 at the Dutse Township Stadium.
The statement added that the programme of activities also includes a tour of key Jigawa State Government project sites, courtesy visits to the Executive Governor of Jigawa State, Malam (Dr.) Umar A. Namadi, the Emir of Dutse, Alhaji (Dr.) Hamim Muhammad Nuhu Sanusi, as well as the NEC technical session.
It further stated that participants are expected to depart on Wednesday, August 12, after the NUJ National President meets with veteran journalists in Jigawa State.
The Council expressed appreciation to Governor Umar A. Namadi for his support and commitment towards ensuring the successful hosting of the NEC meeting.
It also prayed for a safe journey for all delegates and guests travelling to Dutse for the event.
