A political advocacy body, the Nigerian Democratic Working Group, has endorsed the nomination of Hon. Murtala Sule Garo as Deputy Governor of Kano State, describing the move as timely and strategically aligned with the goals of effective governance and democratic consolidation.
In a statement issued on Wednesday and signed by its National Coordinator, Mohammed Hussaini, the group commended the Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, for what it called a well-considered decision reflecting political maturity, inclusiveness, and a commitment to strengthening institutional leadership.
The group noted that Garo’s nomination underscores the importance of appointing experienced and capable individuals into key positions to enhance governance outcomes and ensure policies that resonate with grassroots realities.
According to the statement, the nomination represents “a significant step toward reinforcing administrative efficiency and promoting cohesive governance,” adding that it highlights the governor’s dedication to competence, loyalty, and service to the people.
The Working Group further expressed confidence in Garo’s capacity to support the administration, citing his extensive experience in public service and active engagement in political processes as critical assets in delivering the state’s development agenda.
It also called on political stakeholders across party lines, including members of the All Progressives Congress (APC), to support the nomination in the interest of unity, stability, and sustainable development in Kano State.
The group emphasized the need for collaboration among political actors, urging them to place collective progress above partisan interests. It stressed that enduring governance success depends on shared responsibility and inclusive participation.
Reaffirming its commitment to democratic values, the group pledged continued support for initiatives and policies that promote good governance, institutional strength, and improved service delivery across the state.
It expressed confidence that the nomination would further strengthen governance structures and contribute meaningfully to the realization of long-term developmental goals in Kano State.
