The Senior Special Assistant to Abba Kabir Yusuf on Fulfulde, Hajiya Rukayya Umar, has called on Fulani communities to actively participate in the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise, stressing that civic participation remains a fundamental responsibility of every citizen.
Addressing a gathering of Fulanis in Kafin Maiyaki, the SSA underscored the importance of obtaining the Permanent Voter Card (PVC), describing it as the only legitimate instrument through which citizens can exercise their democratic rights.
She emphasized that no responsible citizen should neglect the opportunity to register, noting that the power to shape leadership at local, state, and national levels lies firmly in the hands of voters.
Hajiya Rukayya further highlighted the crucial role women play in influencing voting patterns within families and communities. She encouraged Fulani women not to relent in mobilizing their households and peers to participate fully in the electoral process.
According to her, increased voter registration among Fulani communities would ensure stronger representation and inclusion in governance structures.
The sensitization campaign forms part of a broader voter awareness initiative spearheaded by the G-13 Abba Gida Gida campaign group, comprising Senior Special Assistants committed to grassroots mobilization and civic engagement.
Observers say the advocacy drive reflects growing efforts to boost participation in the ongoing CVR exercise, particularly among rural and underserved communities.
