The former Acting Chairman of the Kano State Sports Commission, Dr. Murtala Musa, has formally handed over the leadership of the Commission to the newly appointed Chairman, Alhaji Babangida Tukur, during a ceremony held at the Commission’s headquarters in Kano.
The event was attended by members of the Commission’s board, management, and staff, who witnessed the smooth transition of leadership.
Speaking at the ceremony, Dr. Musa expressed gratitude to Abba Kabir Yusuf for entrusting him with the responsibility of serving as Acting Chairman. He also appreciated the Commission’s management and staff for their cooperation, dedication, and support throughout his tenure, noting that their collective efforts contributed to the achievements recorded during his administration.
In his acceptance remarks, the new Chairman, Alhaji Babangida Tukur, commended Dr. Musa for his commitment and contributions to the development of sports in Kano State. He congratulated the outgoing Acting Chairman on what he described as a successful tenure and pledged to consolidate on the progress already made.
Tukur assured the management and staff of his readiness to work closely with them in promoting sports development and improving the Commission’s performance.
Drawing on his previous experience as Executive Director of the Kano State Sports Commission between 1992 and 2000, the new Chairman said he would leverage his extensive knowledge of the sector to strengthen sports administration, nurture young talents, and enhance Kano State’s standing in national and international sporting competitions.
The handover ceremony officially marks the commencement of a new leadership at the Commission, with expectations that the new administration will build on existing successes and further advance sports development across the state.
