There was a delightful pause from the intense learning sessions on Day Two of the ongoing capacity-building workshop for Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) drawn from Kano, Kaduna and Jigawa States, as participants switched from policy discussions to celebration mode at the Triumphant Hotel, Kaduna.

Moments after the close of Tuesday’s session, the hall erupted in joy as participants came together to celebrate the birthday of one of their own, Safiyanu Bichi. In a heart-warming display of unity and comradeship, the entire room broke into a rousing chorus of the Happy Birthday song, filling the venue with laughter, applause and goodwill.

The celebration coincided perfectly with lunch break, adding extra flavour to the moment. A beautifully prepared cake was shared among participants, turning the dining area into a lively scene of smiles, chatter and shared meals — a true reflection of the bond formed during the workshop.

To crown the occasion, Safiyanu was presented with a branded umbrella as a birthday gift, drawing cheers from colleagues and facilitators alike. Clearly moved by the gesture, the celebrant, in an emotionally laden voice, expressed heartfelt gratitude to everyone for the surprise and show of love.

The touching moment unfolded under the warm gaze of resource persons Dr. Olusegun Medupin and Hadiza Umar, who watched on approvingly as learning gave way briefly to laughter and celebration.

The birthday interlude added colour and human warmth to the workshop, reminding participants that beyond advocacy and capacity building, shared moments of joy strengthen collaboration and lasting partnerships.
