A4A: Delivering The North To Asiwaju Bola Tinubu For Continuity
By Abdullahi Malam
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR,has come along way in his development strides aimed at transforming Nigeria to greater heights.Through his Renewed Hope Agenda and other transformational programmes, the President has, since his inauguration on May 29,2023, been implementing policies and programmes that are turning around things for the good of the nation.
Such initiatives include the establishment of a student-loan framework (Nigerian Education Loan Fund) to widen access to higher education, the social investment programme targeting vulnerable households, and the creation of specialised funds to support agriculture and food security such as the National Agricultural Development Fund.
Other efforts made by the President in the last three years include local government autonomy (empowering grassroots governance),energy sector reforms: e.g. ending the federal monopoly in the electricity sector (with the new Electricity Act) to allow for private participation, revival of solid minerals/coal mining as a growth sector, and creation of federal support for states/local governments so that they can meet their obligations such as payment of salaries and pensions, thanks to increased revenues.
Similarly,Asiwaju Bola Tinubu has during the period, initiated youth empowerment and digital/creative economy to stimulate job creation, security and anti-terrorism efforts such as recruitment of more police personnel, establishment of special initiatives (e.g., the Pulako initiative) to curb banditry and insurgency, and provision of infrastructure such as roads, railways, and gass projects.
In the wake of all these achievements, however, some opposition figures, especially those from the Northern part of the country, have been accusing the President of non performance. They are also amplifying the unintended and temporary challenges caused by the President’s economic reforms, ignoring the fact that the reforms are already yielding positive results.
The Northern opposition have been spreading the negative narratives that the President Bola Tinubu has not done anything for the region in terms of provision of the dividends of democracy.
Thus, to counter and dilute this campaign of calumny, the Arewa For Asiwaju (A4A) movement was born.
The A4A is a political and grassroots support movement essentially established to mobilize backing across the 19 northern states of Nigeria and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) for the success of the re-election bid of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 general elections.
The national structure of the movement was inaugurated in Abuja on October 17,2026 by Vice President Kashim Shettima, during which the nation’s number two man said the growing support for President Tinubu in the North should be matched by transparency, accountability and demonstrable results, stressing that the administration must continue to engage citizens honestly on its reforms.

Shettima maintained that renewed confidence in the administration should not be taken for granted, adding that the government’s record and its plans for another term must be clearly explained to Nigerians.

“By now, I believe the North has spoken. We have spoken with a resounding voice and unmistakable conviction. From Adamawa to Zamfara, from Borno to Niger, we have spoken. Such confidence places an obligation upon us that no office holder should ever underestimate,” he said

He said President Tinubu’s quest for a second term should be anchored on the administration’s performance and a clear explanation of how its policies would advance the interests of Nigerians.

“The mandate belongs to the people. We must account for its use and explain how another term would advance their interests,” he said.

Shettima acknowledged the economic difficulties confronting many Nigerians, urging political supporters to recognise citizens’ concerns and explain government policies with facts rather than relying solely on campaign rhetorics.

“Our citizens have endured difficult adjustments. We cannot pretend otherwise. What we owe them is an honest account of the decisions taken, the gains achieved and the difficulties that persist. We lose our hearing when applause becomes our only source of information,” he said.

The Vice President, therefore, charged the A4A campaign organisation to operate beyond electoral mobilisation by providing a channel through which citizens could communicate their concerns to government officials.

“A complaint should travel from a community to those who can act upon it. The people who speak through this organisation deserve to know that somebody is listening,” he said.

Shettima then identified security, economic opportunities, poverty reduction, education and stronger public institutions as key priorities of the Tinubu administration, stressing the need to translate policies into tangible benefits for citizens.

“The farmer should be able to cultivate in safety. A child’s education should prepare that child for a productive life. Public institutions should give citizens confidence that effort can yield opportunity,” he said.

He stated that while election campaigns operate within a defined period, the responsibility of public service continues beyond electoral contests.

“Even as elections impose a deadline upon persuasion, public service imposes no deadline upon our duty,” he said.

Also addressing the gathering, the Deputy President of the Senate,Barau I. Jibrin, said the inauguration of the A4A campaign structure ahead of the 2027 presidential election provided an opportunity to strengthen political mobilisation across Northern Nigeria in support of President Tinubu.

Senator Barau, therefore, expressed confidence that the organisation would help communicate the administration’s policies, programmes and achievements to communities across the region, while encouraging greater public engagement on its development agenda.

Similarly, APC National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, in his remarks at the occasion, urged Northern political leaders and supporters to rally behind the Tinubu-Shettima ticket, citing what he described as the administration’s achievements and the Vice President’s inclusive leadership approach.

Nentawe said the Vice President had helped foster unity among political, religious and ethnic groups across the North, arguing that the approach had strengthened the case for continuity in the country’s leadership.

“We have many reasons to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, so many reasons. Our son, our father, our leader, the Vice President, is one reason why we should support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

“He has built an inclusive environment, bringing all of us together, ensuring that whether you are Christian, Muslim, whether you are of different faith, different religion, different tribe, he has brought us together under one shelter, always talking to us and engaging us.

“So, we have a reason to back him, to support him, and the two of them, the joint ticket of President Bola Tinubu and Shettima, should be returned for a second term,” he said.

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf who spoke on behalf of the Northern governors, expressed support for the re-election of President Tinubu and Vice President Shettima, attributing the position to the administration’s record and its approach to national development.

Yusuf said the region’s support for the Tinubu/Shettima ticket was guided by considerations of fairness, equity, national unity and the country’s overall progress.

Earlier, in his welcome address, the Director-General of A4A, Alhaji Abubakar Mohammed Badaru, said the organisation was established out of the conviction among its members that President Tinubu and Vice President Shettima should be given another opportunity to continue their administration’s programmes.

The former Jigawa State Governor assured the President Tinubu and the APC leadership that the group would extend its mobilisation activities to communities across Northern Nigeria through its network of political leaders and supporters.

He said the organisation would focus on promoting continuity and completing ongoing projects and programmes under the Tinubu administration.

He called on Northern political leaders to support the President’s ambition to complete two terms in office, expressing confidence in the political experience and organisational capacity of members of the campaign structure.

Then, barely five days after the inauguration of the national structure of the A4A movement by Vice President Kashim Shettima, Kano State followed suit with the inauguration of its own chapter comprising State Executives and Coordinators of the 44 Local Government Areas of the State by His Excellency Abdullahi Tijjani Mohammed Gwarzo, who is the State Coordinator of the organization.

Inaugurating the officials at the Tinubu Support Group(TSG) office,Audu Bako Way,His Excellency Abdullahi Tijjani Mohammed Gwarzo, described their appointments as a call to service and urged them to put collective interests above personal ambitions and build a united, effective and inclusive organization.

“I charge you to strengthen our structures, deepen grassroots engagement, work harmoniously with party stakeholders, and promote the ideals of A4A in every community,” he said.

Continuing, His Excellency ATM Gwarzo said:”As we approach the 2027 general elections,we must work collectively and responsibly in support of the APC presidential candidate, His Excellency President Bola Ahmed Tinubu,GCFR,and all other candidates of our great party.

“Our engagement must remain peaceful, lawful, issue-driven,and respectful of democratic principles,” the former Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development, added, amid thunderous ovations(Ruwa Baba,Ruwa Baba) from the newly-inaugurated officials,APC faithful and invited guests.

In his remarks, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Public Communication and Citizen Engagement, our own Malam Abdul’Aziz Abdul’Aziz, said the objective of establishing the A4A organization was to counter the negative narratives against the Tinubu administration being spread by the opposition.

Such narratives, Abdul’Aziz said, included the propaganda that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu did not do anything for the North in terms of provision of dividends of democracy since he assumed office in 2023, which he described as false.

Contrary to the opposition’s claims,he stated, the President had indeed been implementing policies and programmes, and executing projects that have been impacting the lives of the people of Northern Nigeria, including the completion of the Abuja-Kaduna-Kano highway, and the ongoing construction of the Kano northern bypass.

He also cited various infrastructure projects being executed at the Bayero University Kano, Northwest University,Kano, Aliko Dangote University of Science and Technology,Wudil, and the Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital.

The President’s Aide, therefore, urged the newly-inaugurated officials to embark on vigorous campaigns, citing the numerous achievements of the Tinubu administration as well as the development strides of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf in Kano State,to ensure the success of President Tinubu,Governor Yusuf and all other APC candidates in the 2027 general elections.

With the inauguration of the national body and the Kano State chapter of the movement settled, the stage is now set for the execution of the A4A mandate in the state under the able leadership of His Excellency Abdullahi Tijjani Mohammed Gwarzo,a thorough-bred politician and renowned grassroots mobilizer.

The movement will,by Allah’s Grace, traverse the length and breath of Kano State, showcasing the laudable achievements of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to the people and urging them to vote for him for a second term.

And with His Excellency Abdullahi Tijjani Mohammed Gwarzo leading the campaign train, bringing his rich political pedigree to bear,Kano State will undoubtedly, give the highest number of votes to the President, come January 16th,2027.Allah Ya ba mu Sa’a,Amin.
